Detailed Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main 2021

JEE Main 2021 Phase I (February) has been scheduled for February 23 – 26, 2021. As informed by Union Education Minister, JEE Main 2021 will be conducted in four sessions i.e. in February, March, April and May. JEE Main Application Form 2021 has been released on December 16, 2020, Candidates can register until January 16, 2021on its official website.

JEE Main Application Form 2021- What's New This Year?

  • Candidates have to fill only one application form for all NTA JEE Main 2021 sessions. JEE Main 2021 Application form fee has to be paid depending on the number of sessions candidates select to appear
  • JEE Main 2021 application fee can be carry forward to next session. That implies candidates who applies for a session but for some reason wish to appear in next session can change his willingness during the specified time.
  • In 2021, NTA will open the JEE Main 2021 registration window briefly for each 3 sessions in March, April and May 2021. Candidates who will miss to apply for February can apply for March or another session later when the IIT JEE application window will reopen briefly.
  • Students can pay the JEE Main registration fee for one or all sessions while filling the JEE Mains Application Form.
  • If a candidate fails to appear in the applied session, then he/she can apply for the next session and the fee will be refunded.
  • JEE Main application form 2021 for each session will open for a brief period only. It is suggested to apply once for all sessions

Age Limit Criteria

  • There are no age limit criteria for JEE Main 2020.

Subject Combination for JEE Main Eligibility

  • B.E/B.Tech - Compulsory subjects in the form of Mathematics and Physics along with either of Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology as the subjects in any of the qualifying examinations.
  • B.Arch - Any of the qualifying exams needs to be passed with Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry.
  • B.Planning - Mathematics is a compulsion as a passing subject

Number of attempts

Candidates can appear for JEE Main for 3 consecutive years irrespective of session attempts as two attempts in a year will be considered as one.

JEE Main 2021 Eligibility Criteria for Admissions

  • Candidates who have at least 75% marks in aggregate or fall in the top 20 percentile of Class 12th qualifying exam of their state or central board of education to be eligible for JEE Main 2021 if they belong to general category.
  • There is a relaxation of 10% marks in minimum marks requirement for reserved category candidates i.e. if they have at least 65% marks in Class 12th qualifying examination then they are eligible to appear for JEE Main 2021.

Documents required for JEE Main 2021

  • Identity Card:

    Any Proof of Identity in the form of PAN Card, Drivers Licence, Voter ID, Aadhaar Card (not compulsory).

  • Photograph and Signature:

    Scanned copies Signature and Photograph are needed. Both the documents should be with a minimum size of 10 KB and a maximum size of 100 KB. The ideal dimensions should be 3.5 cm X 4.5 cm and in the format of JPEG/JPG only.

  • Educational Documents:

    Class 10th Marksheet and Certificate, Class 12th Marksheet are required

State Code of Eligibility

State Code of eligibility is the Code of the State from where the candidate has passed Class 12th /Equivalent qualifying examination. Thereby, the candidate is eligible to appear in JEE Main for seeking admission to BE/BTech and BArch/BPlan courses offered by Institutions/Colleges of the State/UT.

Note:

  • If a candidate has passed Class 12th/ Equivalent qualifying examination from one State but appeared for improvement from another State, his or her state code of eligibility will be from where he/she has originally passed Class 12th/ equivalent qualifying examination and not the state from where he/she has appeared for improvement.
  • For Indian nationals passing their Class 12th or equivalent exam from an institution abroad, the State of Eligibility will be determined on the basis of permanent address in India as mentioned in the candidate's passport.
  • Aspirants passed or appearing in Class 12th from NIOS should select the State of Eligibility according to the State in which their NIOS study centre is located. State of Eligibility is not applicable for candidates belonging to Nepal / Bhutan/ Foreign/ OCI/PIO.
