CBSE Boards – Important Do’s and Dont’s for the exam
So, the crucial CBSE XII board exams are finally here. You have done well so far by putting in a lot of effort in your preparation. All those days and nights studying hard!!
Now that the preparation phase is over; the next phase of attempting the papers is equally vital. Here is a list of do’s and don’ts that you need to keep in mind while taking the exam.
Do’s:
- Read the question paper thoroughly:
The first 20 minutes that you spend reading the question paper is critical. It will set the tone for the manner in which you take the exam – calm and collected or flustered and unsure. Make it a point to read all the questions meticulously.
- Read each question very well before answering:
Students are in such a great hurry to answer the questions that many a time they answer what has not been asked. So even though they know they might know the subject matter very well, they lose precious marks just because they did not read the question thoroughly and miss out on what was actually asked.
- Draw up a time management plan:
Creating a time management plan right at the start before actually attempting any question helps you to allocate adequate time for each question.
- Get an idea of the easy, not-so-difficult, and difficult questions:
Attempt the easy questions first followed by the not-so-difficult and the difficult questions last. This will build confidence and help you with a smooth flow while answering the paper.
- Tackling the Case Study questions:
Read the questions asked in the case study first and then read the case study keeping the questions in mind.
- Give it all you got
You have worked really hard preparing for your exam. So, answer with confidence and give it your all while answering the questions.
Dont’s
- Time spent answering the questions:`
Don’t spend more time than you have allocated answering a particular question. Instead of wasting time on a question that you are struggling with, move on to the next question and tackle that question after you have attempted the other questions.
- Negative marking?
Don’t leave any questions unanswered as there is no negative marking for wrong answers.
- Rechecking your paper
Don’t miss out on this. Make it a point to revise your paper and reexamine your answers before submitting your paper. Reserve 10 mins of your time for this. This is vital as you will be able to rectify silly mistakes you might have made in answering the questions. It’s natural and we all do this in our hurry to answer the paper.
- Don’t be overcome by self-doubt
Avoid doubting yourself, but if you have to do it, do it after you step out of the examination hall. While answering the papers, focus only on answering the questions to the best of your ability.
